Lay By In Store!

To "lay by in store" means to set something aside for when it is needed. When the time for its purpose in having been set aside comes, it is then brought out to be used. In Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth, he wrote regarding the collection for needy saints in Judea. Paul exhorted these Christians to each "lay by in store" ( 1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV) on the first day of the week, according to how they had prospered, so that when he arrived a quick collection would not have to taken at that time. What had been collected would be ready to be handed over and then taken to meet the need for which it was intended. Therefore the "laying by in store" was a gradual and regular activity with the benefit of others in mind.

Consider another manner in which we might view "laying by in store." What are we continuing day-by-day to draw into our life? What kinds of thoughts are we storing up WITHIN OURSELVES? What attitudes? What desires? What feelings? What virtues? Etc. Whatever that is will have opportunity to be brought forth as we interact with others. Do we recognize the utmost importance of considering what we are storing up?

Jesus stated. . .
"(43) For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, (44) for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. (45) THE GOOD PERSON OUT OF THE GOOD TREASURE OF HIS HEART PRODUCES GOOD, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKS." ( Luke 6:43-45 ESV)

Whatever is WITHIN US is bound to come out at some point? It is only that which is brought in that can eventually be brought forth? Are we storing up WITHIN OURSELVES that which is God glorifying and will be beneficial to others when they are on the receiving end of our words and actions? If we are wisely laying by in store godliness WITHIN US, then that is what will be in store for those around us. May our heart be filled with the abundance of that which is of God. If we are prospering spiritually within, we will be prepared to respond to others in the most beneficial manner.

Have a great day BECOMING A STOREHOUSE OF GOOD TO GOD'S GLORY!
