Inextinguishable Light!
It was at early dawn, as the sun had begun to rise, that the women returned to the tomb with the spices they had prepared for Jesus' burial. ( Luke 24:1) On the way it dawned on them they would need someone to roll the large stone away from the entrance. ( Mark 16:3) However, as they approached they found the stone had already been rolled away and upon further inspection found Jesus' body was no longer there. ( Luke 24:3) Then there appeared with them two men in dazzling apparel; a sight that greatly startled them. ( Luke 24:4-5)
In Luke's account we read. . .
"(5) And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, 'WHY DO YOU SEEK THE LIVING AMONG THE DEAD? (6) He is not here, but HAS RISEN. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, (7) that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and ON THE THIRD DAY RISE.' (8) And they remembered his words, (9) and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest." ( Luke 24:5-9 ESV)
If you are looking for the dead, a tomb is a good place to start. Jesus was not dead! He HAD RISEN! His Life and Light could not be snuffed out!
Considering the sun that rose that morning; what would it take to extinguish its light? It would take an act of God. However, the GREATER LIGHT is the Light of the RISEN SON Who continues to shine for all Who are willing to walk in His Light.
In the Revelation, as John described the new Jerusalem, he stated. . .
"(22) And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. (23) And the city has NO NEED OF SUN OR MOON to shine on it, for THE GLORY OF GOD GIVES IT LIGHT, AND ITS LAMP IS THE LAMB. (24) By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, (25) and its gates will never be shut by day -- AND THERE WILL BE NO NIGHT THERE." ( Revelation 21:22-25 ESV)
A time and place where no need for the sun to shine because the glory of God and the Lamb are SUFFICIENT LIGHT! The sun that rose this morning will set this evening. Jesus is the UNSETTING SON! He rose from the dead never to die again. He lives! He reigns! He shines! Though some may hide their eyes from His Light, His Light will not be extinguished! Praise God for the Everlasting Light we can live in now and for eternity.
Have a great day LIVING IN THE LIGHT OF THE RISEN SON!
