To Know Him Is To . . . !

When Paul was walking around in Athens, there was a sight which greatly distressed him ( Acts 17:16). He saw the city was full of idols! After beginning to reason with the people of Athens, he was soon given the opportunity to speak to a meeting of the Areopagus where time was generally spent talking about and listening to the latest ideas of the day. ( Acts 17:19-21)

Note what Paul said as he began to address this group.
"(22) So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: 'Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. (23) For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, 'TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.'" ( Acts 7:22-23 ESV)

How could one worship what they did not know? How would one know how to please that deity? How would one know what type of worship to offer? How would one make any requests of that deity if it were not known what that deity could provide? How could one put their faith in one who is unknown?

Paul went on to proclaim the only true God; the Creator and the sustainer of life; the One who desires to be known. We might say, "To know Him is to love Him", but our life should also proclaim "TO KNOW HIM IS TO WORSHIP HIM!" That is one way in which we show our love and adoration for all He has done, is doing, and will do. God has revealed Himself through His Creation, through His Son Jesus Christ, and through His Word. And TO KNOW HIM IS TO WORSHIP HIM!

To know Him in His holiness is to worship Him!
To know Him in His power is to worship Him!
To know Him in His loving provision is to worship Him!
To know Him in His wisdom is to worship Him!
To know Him in His gracious spirit is to worship Him!
To know Him Who is true to His every word is to worship Him!

To truly know Him is to make it clear we acknowledge His WORTH-SHIP! To know Him is to make it evident how much He and His Will are valued in our lives! To know Him as the provider of all things is to entrust our whole being to Him!

Do we know Him Whom we claim to worship? What does the worship of our lives say about the relationship? For us to really know Him and what He means to our life both for now and eternity should prompt nothing less than true worship from us. Our worship reveals that we do know Him. And our worship is a worship of faith!

Have a great day WORSHIPPING BECAUSE YOU TRULY DO KNOW HIM!
Carl
