Godly Good!
There can be the form of something when in reality it is a fake. This is no more true than in the realm of religion. GODLINESS is not real that is merely outward, but rather that which wells up from a PROPER ESSENCE WITHIN.
Note what Paul warned Timothy was coming.
"(1) But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. (2) For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, (3) heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, (4) treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (5) HAVING THE APPEARANCE OF GODLINESS, BUT DENYING ITS POWER. Avoid such people." ( 2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV)
Does that sound anything like many living in the world today? Paul's list reflects affections that are misdirected. The focus is more on self than it is on others or even on God. Though for some such might be the means of gain in this world, it will result in the greatest loss in the end; the loss of the soul.
We must understand that one can be good and not necessarily godly. However, for one to be genuinely godly would mean to be truly good. The difference has to do with the TRUE ESSENCE WITHIN that properly impacts the actions without. Goodness without God may provide some benefit to others in this life, but provides no promise for eternity.
Let us refrain from the form of the fake as we recognize GENUINE GODLINESS is produced where the life is properly connected to God and His Will. May GOD'S GOODNESS well up from within us as we seek to serve His purposes in this life.
Have a great day ALLOWING GOD'S GOOD ESSENCE TO WORK IN AND THROUGH US!
Carl
