Dawning Of The New!

We speak of the "dawning" of CREATION when we refer to the grand beginning God brought about of which we read in the first chapter of Genesis. God spoke and life came into existence. It was the "dawning" of NEW LIFE. We also speak of the "dawning" of a NEW YEAR as well as the "dawning" of a NEW DAY as the sun rises in the morning.

Prior to Moses' death he blessed the people of Israel. As that blessing began, we read. . .

"He said, 'The LORD came from Sinai and DAWNED from Sier upon us; HE SHONE forth from Mount Paran; HE CAME from the ten thousands of holy ones, with flaming fire at his right hand.'" ( Deuteronomy 33:2 ESV)

At Sinai was the "dawning" of a special covenant relationship between God and His people as He revealed the commands they were to follow. It was to "dawn" on them how blessed their lives would be as they continued to live faithful to that relationship with God. The light of God's truth was to RISE AND SHINE over their lives. With God there is light and that light has the power to dispel the darkness of ignorance and evil.

When Jesus rose from the dead, there was the "dawning" of HOPE for life beyond death. Yes, the "Son" has risen! And Jesus as "the TRUTH" ( John 14:6) is to RISE AND SHINE over and in our lives. In Christ we are sharers in the special covenant relationship that goes back beyond Sinai to Abraham. ( Genesis 17: 4; 22:18) As we have begun this NEW YEAR, with the "dawning" of each NEW DAY, may the darkness around us be dispelled as the light of Christ reflects in our daily actions. In this way it may begin to "dawn" on others that the truth of Jesus needs to be embraced by them as well.
