Today!

When I noticed on the calendar that today is a Friday the thirteenth, I thought, "All right!" You see, I'm not superstitious at all. I've walked under many ladders without experiencing misfortune because of it. This past August I actually experienced the real danger of ladders is being up on them. (I fell from a ten foot ladder while picking our cherries, but fortunately only suffered some bruising.) I have also opened up many umbrellas indoors. I am not bothered by either the number thirteen or when it falls on a Friday. Thirteen is a GOOD number. I was born on a thirteen (though it was a Sunday morning). The reality is that GOOD and bad can happen on any day.

Each day is a sign from God that for now it is His Will for life here on earth is to continue. Each DAY IS GOOD because God provides each one as a gift to be unwrapped and put to use. The manner in which we use our days reveals our sense of appreciation for them. How well are we doing?

In Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus, he exhorted them to. . .
"(15) LOOK CAREFULLY THEN HOW YOU WALK, not as unwise but AS WISE, (16) MAKING THE BEST USE OF THE TIME, because the days are evil." ( Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV)

The days are evil. There is much bad going on around us. The devil is certainly continuing his work of deception and many are following the ways of this world. However, let us be like our Lord Who continued going about DOING GOOD. ( Acts 10:38) Today is a GOOD DAY to shine His light of love and truth. That is a part of God's GOOD WORK He desires to do through us. May we wisely do our part to help make this a GOOD DAY for those around us as we live to the glory and praise of God!
