His Body! (part 1 of 2)

What is a body without a head? When a body is "brain dead" the body is not able to function on its own. The head -- containing the command center we call a brain -- is necessary to provide the information needed for the body to live and be active. It is the impulses of the brain going out to all the parts of the body that bring it to life!

God's plan from the beginning was that of sending Christ and the establishment of His church to carry on His Work. The significance of our Lord's connection to His Body (the church) was mentioned by Paul where he wrote. . .

"(22) And he put all things under his feet and gave him as HEAD OVER ALL THINGS TO THE CHURCH, (23) which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all." ( Ephesians 1:22-23 ESV)

Just like the physical body can't go one way and the head another, so it is in our relationship with Christ. It is to the dictates of THE HEAD that we are to submit. It isn't up to the body to decide on its own to do something and just hope it gets THE HEAD'S approval. Yet that is what some seem to do; being involved in many works, but not necessarily doing the will from above. (note Matthew 7:21-23)

The church is not my body or your body, but CHRIST'S BODY! Praise God we can be members of it and be involved in His significant purposes. However, we must always remember we are under HIS DIRECTION to go and do and speak what pleases Him and furthers His Will. It is only through remaining connected to Him, THE HEAD, that we are held together and equipped to do His work ( Ephesians 4:15-16), as well as being enabled to grow with the growth that comes from God. ( Colossians 2:19) May we willingly remain under His Divine direction.

Have a great day ACTIVE AND ALIVE BY DIVINE IMPULSES!
Carl
