Deep Impact!
Sometimes the weather can be so damp and cold one feels chilled to the bone. Even after moving into a warm space it may still take time for the chill to leave. Our outward focus, the pursuits that consume us in life, and the atmosphere we create around us can also impact in a deep manner.
Solomon stated. . .
"A TRANQUIL HEART GIVES LIFE TO THE FLESH, but envy makes the bones rot." ( Proverbs 14:30 ESV)
Envy tends to be a persistent agitation to the spirit. A continual striving for what others have and failing to appreciate what one already possesses can not only lead to a rotten feeling in our gut, but to a wasting away of a spirit of peace as well. Such a focus begins to consume the life. Solomon's description reveals how deep and destructive an impact it can have.
Paul drew attention to there being "GREAT GAIN IN GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT." ( 1 Timothy 6:6) Therein is the blessing of less anxiety and stress from endless pursuits which not only take a toll on one's physical and emotional wellbeing, but can take away from the life even socially and spiritually. In the tranquility of CONTENTMENT there is the benefit of fewer distractions. There is the blessing of appreciating what one does have and a sense of peace deep within through the CONTENTMENT of simply living with a trust in God to provide and sustain.
Let us keep in mind how self-injurious envy is. It robs rather than enhances living. May we instead learn the "gain of godliness with CONTENTMENT" and thus receive the blessing of tranquility in the heart.
Have a great day ENJOYING TRANQUILITY DEEP WITHIN!
