Adornment Change!

Perhaps we have each had the experience when we dressed for dealing with a dirty task, maybe one we really didn't enjoy having to do. Maybe we did a bit of moping over our misery as we completed the task. Then someone came along and told us there was a party or a get together of some kind and we immediately cheered up and dressed up. Taking off the "grungies" we put on garments a bit more dressy or festive.

There are also life experiences when it is not the clothing that is changed, but our OUTWARD ESSENCE. Having our focus redirected to what is of greatest assurance or significance, we might immediately shift from an expression of gloom to that of great joy.

Toward the end of one of David's psalms -- after offering remembrance of God's deliverance and help -- he wrote of such a "garment" change as he stated. . .

"(11) You have TURNED for me my MOURNING INTO DANCING; you have LOOSED MY SACKCLOTH and CLOTHED ME WITH GLADNESS, (12) that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!" ( Psalm 30:11-12 ESV)

What a contrasting shift! From "mourning" to dancing". From sadness to exuberance. Dropping the "sackcloth" of sadness and putting on an aura of "gladness". Such a CHANGE OF DISPOSITION that his singing would not be silenced and his thanks would be directed toward God forever!

May we also remember what the Lord has done for us. Though this life has many challenges that can bring our spirits down, let us focus on the assurances that are ours for an eternity! Such remembrance can serve powerfully to keep our spirits up. May a bright OUTWARD ESSENCE adorn us as we keep our focus fixed on God and the assured hope of an eternity with Him. Drawing our attitudes from His wardrobe, our life disposition just might attract others to want to go along with us.

Have a great day CHEERED UP BY GOD!
