The Best Gift!

A couple days ago a statement on my daily calendar read: "Lord, the best gift from You to all of us are the people who love us. Thank You for such a wonderful gift. Amen." Yes, people WHO LOVE US are a very precious gift. How sad it is that there are some who seem to love things (possessions) more than people. It is also sad to know there are some who sense they are unloved. The reality, however, is that there is One Who truly DOES LOVE and because of that love provided the greatest gift we could ever receive.

In Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus we read that familiar passage. . .

"For GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." ( John 3:16 (ESV)

GOD LOVED US enough to send the very best that could be sent. And JESUS LOVED US enough to go through the agony on the cross to give His blood for our sins. The power of His blood continues to work in our life even today. See how great a gift it is? It is truly the best gift because it is the gift that keeps on giving. May the manner in which we live our life clearly reveal how thankful we are for the most wonderful gift ever given!
