Keeping It Alive!

When Jeremiah was sent to God's people to be His messenger, note the encouragement he received.
"(27) So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you. (28) And you shall say to them, 'This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, and did not accept discipline; TRUTH HAS PERISHED; IT IS CUT OFF FROM THEIR LIPS." ( Jeremiah 7:27-28 ESV)

Perhaps that doesn't sound very encouraging at all! How discouraging it would be to take a message to a people who would refuse to listen! Earlier in this chapter the description was that of "persistently" not listening. (verse 13) The problem was that the TRUTH WAS DEAD to them; it had "perished." They would not receive it. Nor were they speaking it. A couple chapters later we read that they had "taught their tongue to speak lies." ( Jeremiah 9:5) What a sad condition! What is to become of life when TRUTH IS DEAD?

There are some who say there is no TRUTH; no absolutes. Some view TRUTH from the standpoint they can have theirs and you can have yours. However, the TRUTH is that TRUTH IS TRUTH and TRUTH is what we should desire.

Remember Jesus' encouragement when He declared,
"(6) ... 'I AM the way, and THE TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" ( John 14:6)

Without THE TRUTH we lose our way to the Father. Is the TRUTH alive in us? As Jesus -- THE TRUTH -- is alive eternally, maintaining our proper connection with Him we too are destined for eternal life. Through Christ, what was dead -- separated from God due to sin -- can be revived and brought back to life. (i.e. Ephesians 2:5-6; Colossians 2:13) Praise God for the life we can have because of THE TRUTH that came to earth and presently reigns above.

Have a great day WITH THE LIVING TRUTH ABIDING WITHIN US!
