Go Ahead And Ask!
Sometimes we are hesitant to ask questions or seek the wisdom of others because we don't want to appear stupid or ignorant for not knowing. Perhaps this is because some have responded to our questions in a condescending manner. Have we ever heard responses such as: "You mean you don't know that?", "That's a stupid question!", "How dumb can you be!", "What, you again?", or "It's about time you asked for help!", etc. Friends sometimes do this. Even some teachers unfortunately respond in such a way. This can make us afraid to ask again. Is any of this the kind of response we fear from God?
James encouraged. . .
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ASK GOD, WHO GIVES GENEROUSLY TO ALL WITHOUT REPROACH, and it will be given him." ( James 1:5 ESV)
James went on to exhort that such asking was to be done in faith without doubting. (vs.6) God wants us to ask. He will not reproach us -- or as the New Living Translation reads, ". . . he will not resent it." -- for asking. He is eager for us to seek His guidance in all things. He loves for us to look beyond ourselves and ultimately to Him for the WISDOM we need. With Him, the stupid thing is to not ask! For that we could be scolded, but not for asking from Him the WISDOM we need for living our day-to-day lives.
God has invited us to ask (i.e. Matthew 7:7-8) , therefore we should not be afraid. When it comes to seeking GOD'S WISDOM for living, let us ask. Let us keep asking. By so doing our focus will remain on Him and His Will rather than relying on ourselves.
Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY GOD'S OPEN INVITATION!
