Give It Some Thought!
Daily we are confronted with decisions regarding the direction of our life. From various individuals and sources we are encouraged to accept "their" view and go "their" way. We are even faced with fine sounding reasoning for why we should move a certain direction. Even Paul drew attention to those who "by smooth talk and flattery" deceive the naïve. ( Romans 16:18)
Solomon advised. . .
"The simple believes everything, but THE PRUDENT GIVES THOUGHT TO HIS STEPS." ( Proverbs 14:15 ESV)
The "simple" are the naïve or gullible. They are those who are easily influenced. The "prudent" are the sensible who give some thought to what is being said. Which are we?
Living in the information age there is a wealth of information available at the click of a mouse. We are also bombarded with a variety of opinions on numerous subjects through various media: television, radio, newspaper, etc. Much of the information may at first seem to sound fine, but where does it ultimately lead? A quick internet search on almost any given subject may bring up volumes of information, all of which may not be reliable.
How often have we been exhorted to not believe everything we hear or read. Even those at Berea were complimented for making certain what they accepted from Paul was true. ( Acts 17:10-11) They examined or searched "the SCRIPTURES DAILY", making sure what Paul and Silas were proclaiming fit with the rest of what God had declared. DAILY time in the SCRIPTURES will also help us sort through the life ideologies that come our way. The words of people are not always completely trustworthy. However, that is not the case with God "Who cannot lie." ( Titus 1:2) Using the SCRIPTURES DAILY as the standard for comparison is the prudent way to guard the direction of our steps. That we can believe!
Have a great day CAUTIOUSLY COMPARING WITH GOD'S CRITERION!
