A Source Of Comfort!

In this realm we find promises made that are frequently broken. Sometimes those promises are broken because they were not seriously made while other times people may promise things that were not within their power to fulfill. However, that is not the way it is with the promises of God. This reality was a source of comfort to the psalmist who wrote. . .

"(49) Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. (50) This is my comfort in my affliction, that YOUR PROMISE GIVES ME LIFE." ( Psalm 119:49-50 ESV)

God's word (vs.49), which He had already spoken, was fully viewed in the faith God would fulfill it. Does what God has declared in the past have the same impact on our view regarding LIFE presently and the hope of ETERNAL LIFE to come? With our life in the hands of God, we should find comfort in knowing that regardless of the challenges we may face presently, it is not the end. God still holds for us the promise of LIFE! And knowing the ETERNAL LIFE of which He assures us, we can LIVE even now with courage in the face of affliction and trials.

Remembering "the promises of God find their yes" in Christ ( 2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV), note what Paul stated in his second letter to Timothy.

"(8) Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, (9) who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, (10) and which now has been manifested THROUGH THE APPEARING OF OUR SAVIOR CHRIST JESUS, WHO ABOLISHED DEATH AND BROUGHT LIFE AND IMMORTALITY TO LIGHT THROUGH THE GOSPEL," ( 2 Timothy 1:8-10 ESV)

Like the psalmist, Paul found courage to press on even in the face of trials (prison and suffering for the gospel) because of the message of LIFE AND IMMORTALITY brought to light in Christ. We each may face some extremely challenging situations in life, but they will pass. In Christ we have LIFE! In Christ we have the assurance of LIFE ETERNAL! In Christ we have a resounding "yes" that God will fulfill all He has said He would. May all His promises inspire us to LIVE confidently and joyfully as we look forward to the eternity He has in store for us.

Have a great day COMFORTED THROUGH CONFIDENCE IN GOD'S PROMISES!
