Ready?

Moths are interesting creatures as they are DRAWN TO LIGHT. They flutter around and around light bulbs glowing in the darkness. I have seen them drawn to street lights where bats swoop past, enjoying the moths as a meal. They are even drawn into the light beams from headlights of moving vehicles. However, for what are they ready as they are DRAWN TO THE LIGHT?

Moses was DRAWN TO THE LIGHT of a burning bush? ( Exodus 3:2) When God spoke to him he responded, "Here I am" ( Exodus 3:4), but how ready was he to accept the calling he received. His "Here I am" was quickly followed by a "Who am I" ( Exodus 3:11) and several other excuses revealing his reluctance to at first accept the mission for which God had prepared him.

Nicodemus was DRAWN TO THE LIGHT (Jesus, John 8:12), though he went to Jesus at night. ( John 3:2) Despite the fact he was a "teacher of Israel" ( John 3:10), Nicodemus was in need of some more enlightenment. He was at least at a point where he was willing to begin to investigate Jesus and would even soon venture to speak somewhat on Jesus' behalf. ( John 7:50-51) However, it was not until after Jesus' death on the cross that Nicodemus -- along with Joseph of Arimathea -- stepped forward publicly to request the body of Jesus for burial. ( John 19:38-39)

When Paul finally SAW THE LIGHT when the Lord appeared to him on the road to Damascus ( Acts 9:3), he was ready to surrender and do whatever he needed to do? He was ready to move from the darkness of his ignorance and live to serve the purposes of God. And what a powerful work the Lord did through His servant Paul.

How about us? Are we continuing to be DRAWN TO THE LIGHT? How ready are we to accept Jesus as He is, stepping further from the realm of darkness into His glorious light as we surrender our will to Him? Are we ready to remain in that LIGHT?

John exhorted and encouraged. . .
"(5) This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. (6) If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (7) But if we WALK IN THE LIGHT, AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." ( 1 John 1:5-7 ESV)

It is only IN THE LIGHT of God and our Lord Jesus that such blessing can be found. Many may be drawn to THE LIGHT, but there must also be the decision to remain there? May our fellowship with THE LIGHT be the mark of our every day living as we live with the hope of eventually living in the realm of His eternal glorious LIGHT. Walking in HIS LIGHT now will help us find the way.

Have a great day BLESSED BY LIVING IN THE LIGHT OF THE LORD!
