Our Egg Basket!
It has long been the advice to not put all our eggs in one basket. If something happened to that basket, all the eggs would be lost. Eggs are fragile and must be handled with care in order for the egg seller to make a profit. The broader use of this expression has been that of not putting ALL THE HOPE AND TRUST in just one thing. Sometimes we cannot be sure what specific things might work out -- determining for certain where success in life may come -- so the endeavors of life are many with the hope of some good return for the effort. That is why investments are made in mutual funds and spread out in various stocks so that if some investments do not prove profitable, others that do will help balance out and all will not be a total loss. However, could there be a "basket" in which it is safe to place all our "eggs"?
Solomon urged. . .
"(5) TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and do not lean on your own understanding. (6) IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, and he will make straight your paths." ( Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
Could we not perhaps rephrase the saying by stating "Don't put all your eggs in one basket, UNLESS that 'basket' is THE LORD!"? If the "basket" is God, is the investment of our life not safe? Paul was fully convinced that what he had ENTRUSTED TO THE LORD was entirely safe. ( 2 Timothy 1:12) Therefore, regardless of what he faced, he had complete confidence in FULLY ENTRUSTING his life to the Lord.
Since it is true that life is fragile, let us always remember to handle it with prayer; prayer to the One in Whom we can place our COMPLETE TRUST. Let it be THE LORD in which we place the trust of our WHOLE HEART and in ALL OF OUR ENDEAVORS of life acknowledge Him and His Will as we accept the guidance He offers. With Him there is no risk to the investment of our life.
Have a great day KNOWING THE LIFE GIVEN TO GOD IS FOREVER SAFE!
