A Father's Love!
A father's love is shown in various ways. One of those displays is in the process of meeting our needs. A loving father recognizes and seeks to meet the needs and even the desires of his children. Yet there are times when that perception may not be as sharp as it could. This is not the case with our HEAVENLY FATHER, however.
Jesus stated. . .
"(9) Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? (10) Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? (11) If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN GIVE GOOD THINGS to those who ask him! (12) So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." ( Matthew 7:9-12 ESV)
We also understand how some ways of showing love are more desirable to us than others. Yet we must also have an appreciation for all the ways in which we benefit from that love. Even the love of our HEAVENLY FATHER (the best model for loving) may at times come across in a way we might think undesirable. Do we acknowledge the necessity of that love?
In drawing a comparison between earthly fathers and our HEAVENLY FATHER, the Hebrew writer noted. . .
"(10) For they [earthly fathers] disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he [God] disciplines us FOR OUR GOOD, that we may SHARE HIS HOLINESS. (11) For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it YIELDS THE PEACEFUL FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS to those who have been trained by it." ( Hebrews 12:10-11 ESV)
Not only does our HEAVENLY FATHER love us enough to have sent the very best (Jesus), but He also loves us enough to provide the guidance we need.
Have a great day LIVING IN your HEAVENLY FATHER'S LOVE!
Carl
