A Life Worth Living!
If we asked others what they would consider a life worth living, we would most likely receive a variety of responses. These responses might run the extreme from having everything desired to possessing the kind of relationships that bring joy to life. Some might also desire more leisure time for self while others would acknowledge the value of ministering to the needs of others. People have desires for all kinds of pursuits. With all the things that could come to mind in relation to "a life worth living" -- not all of which might necessarily be bad -- is there a FOUNDATIONAL FOCUS that can aid in bringing all other things into proper perspective? I believe Peter addressed the resolve that ought to be ours.
We read. . .
"(1) Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, (2) so as to LIVE FOR THE REST OF THE TIME IN THE FLESH no longer for human passions but FOR THE WILL OF GOD." ( 1 Peter 4:1-2 ESV)
Jesus had an attitude that prompted Him to endure what needed to be endured on our behalf. While some live merely for pleasure, others have found the great pleasure of SEEKING TO PLEASE GOD. If our "time in the flesh" is spent for THE DOING OF HIS WILL, would that not be the ultimate life worth living? That is the life that brings the greatest joy and peace even in this realm. It is the pursuit that wards off regret. It is also the only life associated with the godliness that holds promise for the life to come. ( 1 Timothy 4:8) A life that takes us anywhere but to God would actually be a wasted one. (i.e. Matthew 16:26)
Let us remain focused on the truest life worth living that ultimately transcends this realm into a blessed eternity with God. Living life now FOR HIM maintains the relationship that provides eternal life WITH HIM!
Have a great day KNOWING THE TRULY WONDERFUL LIFE!
