Enough With That!

"Enough already!" "I'm done with that!" "No more!" Do those words strike us as expressions of RESOLVE? Recognizing those things of which we need to be finished is only part of the battle. The rest is RESOLVE to do it as the life focus is shifted another direction. Rehabilitation of life (whether physical or spiritual) works best when there is rehabilitation of the thinking. Transformation from within has more power than mere outward conforming. We need a steadfast RESOLVE toward that which is enough!

In Peter's first letter he wrote. . .
"(1) Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has CEASED FROM SIN, (2) SO AS TO LIVE FOR THE REST OF THE TIME IN THE FLESH no longer for human passions but FOR THE WILL OF GOD. (3) For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry." ( 1 Peter 4:1-3 ESV)

The New Living Translation begins verse three with, "You have HAD ENOUGH in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy". (NLT, ©1997, Tyndale House) What might we add to Peter's list that needs to be moved from in our life? What is it that we have spent enough time doing that relates more to our flesh than to our relationship with God? We don't have to wait for new years to come along to make resolutions. Each day God provides is another opportunity to RESOLVE to do better than we did the day before and to leave behind actions, activities, and associations that may be taking us away rather than toward the WILL OF GOD.

Today is the first day of the rest of our life. May it be a day in which we firmly RESOLVE to cease from sin and live for the rest of our time in the flesh making GOD'S WILL in Heaven ours on earth! After all, it is HIS WILL that will ultimately be done! Therefore, living for HIS WILL will indeed be found to be enough!

Have a great day FINDING GOD'S WILL A SUFFICIENT GUIDE FOR DAILY LIVING!
