Blessed Assurance!
There have been times when people have invested in what was declared to be a "SURE THING" only to end up losing their investment. Sometimes investors are misled. Other times what may have honestly been offered as a "sure thing" ended up not turning out to be so due to unforeseen factors. Such is an unfortunate reality in this life. It is hard to predict all the possible things that might happen. The stock market goes up and down. Companies go out of business. Supply and demand can vary greatly. And the item that is hot this year may not be the next. When a business goes bankrupt, some guarantees end up not even being worth the paper on which they are written.
A "SURE THING"! Is there any such thing? Is everything relating to life a gamble or relegated merely to the luck of the draw? Though chance may be an accepted reality with regard to some aspects of life in this world, it does not have to be the view relative to our spiritual life and the hope we have in Christ.
The Hebrew writer encouraged . . .
"(17) So when GOD desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, HE GUARANTEED IT with an oath, (18) so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to HOLD FAST TO THE HOPE SET BEFORE US. (19) We have this as A SURE and steadfast ANCHOR OF THE SOUL, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, (20) where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." ( Hebrews 6:17-20 ESV)
A GUARANTEE from God. There are no unforeseen factors to Him! He will not mislead. He cannot lie! The HOPE He offers is a SURE THING! God's blessing of hope in Christ does not hinge on how well the stock market does or the will of mankind on earth, but is established in accordance with His Will in Heaven. Therefore, though there may be a constant shifting of things in this world, we can BE ASSURED when our hope is anchored not in this world, but in Heaven -- where Christ has gone before us -- it is a blessing we will receive! As we give our lives to Christ, may we be encouraged it is an investment that is most certainly safe!
Have a great day TAKING STOCK IN CHRISTIAN LIVING!
