Amighty Connection!
Though some had apparently stirred up some trouble at Corinth regarding Paul, his apostleship had been appropriately and clearly revealed among them. Paul reminded them of this when he wrote. . .
"(12) The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with utmost patience, with SIGNS and WONDERS and MIGHTY WORKS." ( 2 Corinthians 12:12 ESV)
That Paul was a "MIGHTY" apostle and servant of God, we would probably all agree. He had FAITH marked by a boldness and perseverance in spreading the Gospel wherever he went. However, even in view of the greatness of his FAITH and service in the Name of Christ he appears to have maintained a humble attitude with regard to himself.
In the verse prior to the one noted above we read. . .
"(11) I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I WAS NOT AT ALL INFERIOR to these super-apostles, even THOUGH I AM NOTHING." ( 2 Corinthians 12:11 ESV)
"Nothing"? Someone has said, "Faith is the link that binds our nothingness to Almightiness." [source: sentence sermons] It was "BY THE GRACE OF GOD" Paul was what he was. ( 1 Corinthians 15:10) It was also FAITH in that relationship that caused Paul to declare "I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH HIM who strengthens me." ( Philippians 4:13 ESV) In humbling himself, it was no longer Paul who lived, but Christ who lived in him ( Galatians 2:20) allowing that ALMIGHTY CONNECTION and power to work in and through him.
Praise God for what He can make of our nothingness when our FAITH is placed in Him. Just as He did with the life of Paul He still wills to work in and through us today. ( Philippians 2:13) May we therefore humble ourselves under the "MIGHTY HAND OF GOD" ( 1 Peter 5:6) so that our life will be exalted in doing His Will through the strength He provides.
Have a great day CONNECTED FOR MIGHTILY CARRYING OUT GOD'S WILL!
