Rolling The Work!
In life people use expressions like "on a roll" or "roll with the punches" to describe the manner in which they respond or move through varying situations. While some struggle with their life circumstances, others seem to be able to just roll with whatever life hands them and press on in spite of it all. Challenges arise and they just roll on appearing to go unphased and unstopped from ongoing godly activity.
Solomon stated. . .
"COMMIT YOUR WORK TO THE LORD, and your plans will be established." ( Proverbs 16:3 ESV)
What does the committing of our work to the Lord have to do with rolling? According to Strong's Lexicon, the Hebrew word translated "commit" literally means "to roll." The encouragement appears to be toward rolling over as in transferring or giving the work OVER TO THE LORD; entrusting it to Him for success. To do so lifts a great burden from our shoulders as His strength and timing of fruitfulness are relied upon.
Let us submissively resign ourselves to the wisdom and power of God for the establishment of the plans of life. Rolling our reliance OVER TO GOD in the undertaking of the works of this life, we can then roll on WITH HIM knowing that whatever pleases Him to do in and through us will be able to please us as well.
Have a great day ON A ROLL WITH THE WORK OF GOD!
