Going With The Flow!
Often when people talk about going with the flow, they are expressing the idea of moving along the path of least resistance; going with the direction life or others seem to already be moving. Such a statement seems to imply no personal resistance against that movement as well. Consider the flow of water. When it begins rushing, its course sometimes moves beyond the control of men. Water in great volume has power to go where it wills, forging its way by even pushing obstructions out of its way. However, water can also be channeled by the use of canals and irrigation ditches to direct the flow of water in a manner that will bring benefit to crops.
Solomon noted. . .
"The king's heart is a stream of water IN THE HAND OF THE LORD; HE TURNS IT WHEREVER HE WILL." ( Proverbs 21:1 ESV)
As water can be channeled without changing its nature, so it is with mankind. Reading through the Old Testament we find a number of examples of kings who were used by God to serve His purposes -- such as He did with Pharaoh ( Exodus 9:16 & 10:1-2) and Cyrus ( Isaiah 45:1) -- even though it may not have changed their HEARTS. However, should such influence not be OUR HEART'S DESIRE; to willingly yield to the direction of the hand of God so that our life will flow where He desires it to flow and thus be a part of the working out of His Sovereign Will?
A HEART SURRENDERED in the hand of God; a life directed by Him to where there is the greatest benefit according to His Will. That is the flow of which we should WHOLE HEARTEDLY desire for our life to be channeled. God's plans will be fulfilled ( Proverbs 19:21), so being open to "going with the flow" of God will allow our life to be used by Him in a blessed manner.
Have a great day LIVING IN THE STREAM OF GOD'S WORKS!
