Who's Menu?

Imagine a woman spending hours preparing a meal she knows will be tasty and satisfying. She carefully mixes all the ingredients, seasons everything just right, and makes certain it is all cooked well, but not overly done. Consider her joy when she watches her family and guests begin taking their first bites and is able to clearly see how much they are enjoying what she has lovingly prepared. To know what she had selected for the menu and so carefully prepared is received with such satisfaction is certainly a sight that would gratify her heart.

Note the following words of David.
“(7) How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. (8) They FEAST ON THE ABUNDANCE OF YOUR HOUSE, and you give them DRINK FROM THE RIVER OF YOUR DELIGHTS.” ( Psalm 36:7-8 ESV)

We live in a world where there appears to be a lot of table-hopping. What I means is, people feast a little here and a little there, always looking for something to satisfy their personal tastes or feed the mood of the moment. With table-hopping comes two things: a change in food selections and a change in the company surrounding that particular table. As we feast in life, we should give serious consideration to what we are seeking to satisfy our appetites as well as the company with whom we may be feasting (sharing life). These both can have either a positive or negative impact on our spiritual well-being depending on where we have chosen to feast.

Considering the words of David, did you note whose preparations were taken in? It was a feasting on the abundance of GOD’S HOUSE and drinking from the river of HIS DELIGHTS. Consider the joy it must bring to God when He sees us enjoying not merely our own personal delights, but rather the delights HE HAS PREPARED for filling our lives. When we find satisfaction in eating from HIS MENU rather than opting for “smorgasbord” living (taking only that for which we have a personal taste) we can know that not only will it be good, but good for us. May we continually keep our feet under His table!

Have a great day DELIGHTING IN THE DELICIOUS DELICACIES OF GOD!
Carl
