God's Delight!

“God’s got to be greatly delighted to have me because I have so much to offer.” Is that the perspective of ourselves? Is that what delights God about our life? Though we may have talents God can use, is that the foundation of our acceptance by Him? Zacchaeus was singled out by the Lord even though there was a large crowd and besides being a “tax collector”, he was short in stature. ( Luke 19:2-3) Bartimaeus was told to be quiet by the crowds, but again the Lord was willing to single him out even though he was blind. ( Mark 10:46-50) I think it is interesting both of these encounters were at Jericho. Zacchaeus was greatly desiring to see Jesus and in his HUMBLE and PENITENT response to Jesus, that day salvation came to his house. ( Luke 19:9) Bartimaeus also desired to see Jesus and not wanting to miss the opportunity, continued to cry out to the dismay of the rest of the crowd. Jesus drew attention to the FAITH he possessed. ( Mark 10:52)

From these two examples we should note how it has more to do with the SPIRITUAL STATURE and VISION than it does with the physical, because such is the life open to RELYING ON GOD rather than merely on self. It marks the life that recognizes God holds the power to truly meet the needs of life, not one’s self. We must guard against focusing so much on self that we forget our need for reliance on God, even when carrying out His Works.

One of the psalmists stated. . .
“(10) His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, (11) but THE LORD TAKES PLEASURE IN THOSE WHO FEAR HIM, in THOSE WHO HOPE IN HIS STEADFAST LOVE.” ( Psalm 147:10-11 ESV)

God sees what mankind often overlooks. May we maintain a reverent fear of God that causes us to seek His Will and keeps our hope in Him. It is this attitude toward Him that creates a solid foundation for His Works to take place in and through us. Being submissive to His Will is what delights Him and makes us useful to His purposes regardless of physical characteristics.

Have a great day CONSIDERING THE STATURE OF OUR INNER BEING!
