Cause For Rejoicing!
An artist may step back and admire what their hand has brought to life on the canvas. A potter may be very pleased with the finished work at the wheel. The carpenter may be greatly pleased with the house built by his skillful hands. And knowing that what they have made may also be appreciated by others can add to the pleasure of the accomplished work.
One of the psalmists stated. . .
“May the glory of the LORD endure forever; MAY THE LORD REJOICE IN HIS WORKS,” ( Psalm 104:31 ESV)
The WORKS OF GOD reflect the awesomeness of His wisdom, power, and purpose. What He has made is “very good.” ( Genesis 1:31) Have we developed a great sense of appreciation for HIS WORKS? Are we also continually living with the acknowledgment we too are the WORK OF HIS HANDS ( Isaiah 64:8) and therefore mindful of giving God cause for rejoicing? Living to please Him (note Ephesians 5:10, Colossians 1:10, and 1 Thessalonians 4:1) and allowing His Will to be fulfilled in our life brings joy to the God Who is fully aware of all aspects of our life.
Jesus noted another cause of rejoicing when He stated. . .
“Just so, I tell you, THERE IS JOY BEFORE THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNERWHO REPENTS.” ( Luke 15:10 ESV)
Our Lord’s wording seems to indicate it is the REJOICING OF GOD being witnessed by the angels when a sinner repents. Turning our lives away from sin and back to God provides the occasion for God to “REJOICE IN HIS WORKS.” It is a sign that His Word is working in the lives of those receiving it; changing the life direction back toward God so that the sinner is brought back into a right relationship with Him. In that we too should rejoice.
A WORK IN GOD’S HANDS! May our life -- continuing as a work in progress -- bring Him cause for rejoicing as God makes us and uses us in accordance with His Divine purposes.
Have a great day LIVING FOR THE APPROVAL OF GOD!
