Blessed Remembrance!
It has been frequently noted that those who fail to LEARN FROM HISTORY are destined to repeat its mistakes. Great blessing comes through LEARNING from the mistakes of others because life is too short to be left to make them all ourselves. LEARNING FROM HISTORY helps provide better living for today which also paves the way for a better future. Just as this is true socially in the world, it is also true spiritually.
Recently reading through several passages in the Psalms, I was once again struck by part of the glorious history of God’s provision for His people from the time of Abraham to the journey to the promised land. (Psalms 105 & 106) In that history it is noted how God is One Who plans ahead (i.e. Psalm 105:17 & 44); all for the benefit of those who will honor and obey Him. However, that history was also sprinkled with periods of FORGETFULNESS of what God had done on behalf of His people. (i.e. Psalm 106:7, 13, & 21)
Paul reminded those at Rome. . .
“FOR WHATEVER WAS WRITTEN IN FORMER DAYS WAS WRITTEN FOR OUR INSTRUCTION, THAT THROUGH ENDURANCE AND THROUGH THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE SCRIPTURES WE MIGHT HAVE HOPE.” ( Romans 15:4 ESV)
Oh, how blessed we are to be able to read through the Scriptures to LEARN what God’s expectation has been for mankind throughout the ages and the hope He has continued to hold out, even when the tendency has been toward waywardness. The record has been written. It is up to us what we will do with the lessons there. Will we ACCEPT THE INSTRUCTION? As we read, let us continue to LEARN while pressing on with endurance toward the encouraging hope that is ours in Christ. Such will make for a better today and a brighter future in God’s eternal realm.
Have a great day READING THE RECORD AND RESPONDING ACCORDINGLY!
