Untampered With!

Tampering with food and medications is a serious offense. Such crimes are vigorously investigated with perpetrators brought to justice because when food and medications are tampered with, serious health risks and even death can result. The United States Federal Drug and Food Administration (FDA) is charged with overseeing the safety of what is being passed on to the consumer and companies take the precaution of sealing their products in such a manner that hopefully we can tell whether they have already been opened up or not. Therefore, when purchases are made we generally trust that what we are buying has not been tampered with and is therefore safe for our use.

Paul, writing to the church at Corinth stated. . .
“(1) Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. (2) But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. WE REFUSE to practice cunning or TO TAMPER WITH GOD’S WORD, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.” ( 2 Corinthians 4:1-2 ESV)

God’s Word is to be left as it is. Throughout the Scriptures God has made this expectation clear regardless of era. (i.e. Deut. 4:2; Prov. 30:6; 1 Cor. 4:6; Rev. 22:18-19) What comes from Him can only have its full affect when taken as it is. We are not to repackage it. We are not to either dilute it or enhance it. After all, how can we improve on the perfect wisdom of His Word? To tamper with God’s Word is a serious offense because the SPIRITUAL HEALTH AND ETERNAL LIFE OF SOULS ARE AT STAKE. For that which truly nourishes the soul and remedies the ails of life, may we accept God’s Word in its sealed and un-tampered form.
