Stretched!
There are inventions developed and advancements made because of those who may have begun by stretching their imagination. Though the truth should not be stretched, EXPANDING THE MIND through a willingness to learn new things can add not only to one’s personal life, but to those around them. Oliver Wendell Holmes is quoted as saying, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” When one gains new information, the thinking (if one is honest) can never be the same again, and this will ultimately become true regarding the life itself. Though one may have to sometimes admit they had been wrong about some things in the past, they can rejoice that they now know more fully.
In Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae, he encouraged. . .
“(9) And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIS WILL in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, (10) SO AS TO WALK IN A MANNER WORTHY OF THE LORD, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and INCREASING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.” ( Colossians 1:9-10 ESV)
Paul’s unceasing prayer for these Christians was that they would be filled with a knowledge and understanding of the Will of God. From such growth should come a conviction to live in a manner that would keep one from going back to the original way of living. Increasing in the knowledge of God should steadily move us toward even greater works and the living of a life marked by a greater degree of godliness. Expanding the mind with a proper understanding of God’s Will ought to serve to expand our life in ways that allow God to put us to greater use for His purposes. May we recognize it is a good thing to not be able to go back to the shape we once were as God’s spiritual EXPANSION envelops our life.
Have a great day BEING RESHAPED BY GOD!
