Not Deserted!
A number of years ago, our family made its first trip into the “Ape Caves” south of Mount Saint Helens in Washington State. There are two sections of these lava tubes that can be explored referred to as the upper and lower caves. I remember touring the lower (easier) section first and having a guide talk about their formation, the group of explorers from which came the name “Ape Caves”, and other interesting information relating to these lava tubes. However, as we stood in a large section of the lower lava tube, upon conclusion of the lecture, our guide said we were on our own. We could explore further into the lower section if we liked or could go through the upper and more difficult section on our own. (This we have done again several times since.)
Perhaps this is where some find themselves in life. Either they have the help of someone offering GUIDANCE for part of the journey and then they are left completely on their own to find their way, or they choose to leave their GUIDE and explore life alone. I was struck by these thoughts yesterday morning as I was reading through several chapters from the Psalms.
The psalmist Asaph wrote. . .
“(23) Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. (24) YOU GUIDE ME WITH YOUR COUNSEL, and AFTERWARD YOU WILL RECEIVE ME TO GLORY.” ( Psalm 73:23-24 ESV)
Though we have CONSTANT GUIDANCE available through the Will of God preserved in the pages of Scripture, many do choose to leave the GUIDE behind and explore life by trial and error on their own. The COUNSEL OF GOD is available TO GUIDE us through every step of life. God has lovingly provided a means of avoiding having to blindly find our own way. He is also ready to GUIDE us to the very end; to usher us into His glorious eternity. May we accept that GUIDANCE all the way through our life in this realm.
Have a great day ACCEPTING GOD’S GUIDANCE ALL THE WAY!
Carl
