Seeing It!
Not all people have what it takes for working in the medical field. Some get woozy or sick at the very sight of blood. There are even those who pass out when they see blood from a gash or wound. Thankfully there are those who can handle the blood and therefore provide for those needs.
When God was having Moses prepare the Israelites for their departure from Egypt, they were instructed to take a lamb to be roasted and eaten, but some of the blood was to be placed on the upper and side parts of the door frame. In doing this there was a distinction that would be made between the Israelites and the Egyptians during the tenth and final plague; the death of the firstborn.
God declared…
“The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I WILL PASS OVER YOU, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.” ( Exodus 12:13 ESV)
At the sight of the blood, God would not pass out, but would PASS OVER that house and death would not come to that household. This was the first Passover that would be commemorated year after year as a memorial of God’s deliverance from bondage.
We also have been delivered by blood. This blood was not smeared on doorposts or the beam above the door, but was shed from the beam of a cross. Jesus “Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” ( 1 Corinthians 5:7 ESV) and by His blood we have been justified ( Romans 5:9), freed from our sins (Rev. 1:5), redeemed or ransomed ( 1 Peter 1:18-19), and brought near to God. ( Ephesians 2:13)
Praise be to our Father in Heaven that as He looks at our life -- since we have put on Christ ( Galatians 3:27) -- He sees the blood of His Son and will PASS OVER our sins. Our Lord made that which some would consider gross to become a beautiful and precious offering on our behalf. He handled it for us and in so doing provided for our greatest need!
Have a great day SEEING THE BEAUTY OF CHRIST’S BLOOD!
