Nearer And Nearer!

A new year is just two days away. With each hour that passes it draws nearer. A new year is often seen as a chance for new beginnings with renewed resolve to do things better and new opportunities with which to become involved. A coming new year is also generally viewed with a sense of hopefulness which is how we ought to gratefully accept each new day God provides.

When the Scriptures refer to our SALVATION, they do so in terms that God our Savior has “SAVED US” ( Titus 3:5), “in this hope we WERE SAVED” ( Romans 8:24), and that we are “OBTAINING the outcome of your faith, THE SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS.” ( 1 Peter 1:9). Because of the continuing relationship we have in Christ we can presently know we HAVE BEEN and ARE PRESENTLY SAVED as we live with the assurance in Christ that we WILL BE SAVED. Stepping into each new day the Lord provides (and praise God He gives us life measured out in daily doses), we do so awaiting the complete fulfillment of that SALVATION when we are finally delivered from this realm into the glorious eternity of Heaven.

Writing to the church at Rome, Paul encouraged…
“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For SALVATION IS NEARER TO US NOW THAN WHEN WE FIRST BELIEVED.” ( Romans 13:11 ESV)

Each day of walking in the Lord brings that reality of complete and final SALVATION closer than when we first believed and obeyed the Gospel of Jesus. Nearer and getting still nearer! May we continue to press on with the assurance of HAVING BEEN SAVED, thus knowing we ARE SAVED, and trusting His Sovereign power in which we will ultimately BE SAVED! Praise God it is steadily growing closer! May we reach out to others that they too may share the same hope!
