Sharing Sweets!
Do we have a sweet tooth? When we are given a bag of candy or box of chocolates, are we eager to accept? Are we just as eager to share the sweet treat with others? Oh, how mouth watering such can be. Looks good and can be so hard to resist. Tastes good and can even make the disposition more cheery.
The Psalmist stated…
“How SWEET ARE YOUR WORDS TO MY TASTE, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” ( Psalm 119:103 ESV)
Have we found the message of God revealed through HIS WORD to be something very sweet because of the many blessings and broad impact it can have on our life? Every time we open the Book, do we find every bit that we take in to be satisfying, tasty morsels? Do we continually find them to be palatable for our life?
Words are not meant to merely be held in the mouth, but are intended to be spoken as long as they are appropriate. This is especially true with the wisdom God has made available to us that is also to be offered to others. As we have received and accepted His counsel, are we sharing it?
Solomon noted…
“Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the SWEETNESS OF A FRIEND COMES FROM HIS EARNEST COUNSEL.” ( Proverbs 27:9 ESV)
What kind of friend are we? Do we share a genuine concern for the spiritual wellbeing of those around us? Do others sense the sweetness of our friendship because we earnestly live by and point toward the wise COUNSEL OF GOD?
Within the WORD OF GOD is found benefit for the whole being. We have received the gracious words of God. These gracious words are to be passed on to others.
Solomon also wrote…
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, SWEETNESS TO THE SOUL AND HEALTH TO THE BODY.” ( Proverbs 16:24 ESV)
This is no more true than with regard to the gracious WORDS OF GOD! Within HIS WORD is found benefit for the whole being; body and soul. We have received His gracious words. Those gracious words ought to greatly encourage us. They also ought to be passed on to others. May they be the sweets we are most eager to share so that we and those around us may develop and maintain a sweet tooth for God’s sweet truth!
Have a great day SHARING GOD’S SWEET TRUTH!
Carl
