Oh How I Love Thee! (#2)
God looks upon us -- “How do I love you? Let me help you count the ways.” We noted yesterday, God loved us enough to send His one and only Son into the world and He became a living illustration of God’s great love.
As Jesus was heading toward Jerusalem a rich young man ran up to him and asked what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life ( Mark 10:17). Jesus pointed him to the commandments which the young man stated he had kept since he was a boy.
Then we read:
“And Jesus, looking at him, LOVED HIM, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’” ( Mark 10:21 ESV)
In spite of the fact this young man did not have all of his life in proper perspective (read on and you will see) Jesus loved him. Jesus also loved this young man enough to help him see what he was allowing to stand in his way and hold him back from whole heartedly following Jesus. What is it Jesus would have said to me? What is it Jesus would have said to you? God loves us enough to reveal His will so we may see where we are and where He desires to bring us in our spiritual walk. Let us remain open to what He reveals through His Word so we may change what needs to be changed and grow in those things which reflect the image He desires us to possess.
Have a great day accepting God’s LOVING DIRECTION!
Carl
