Beautiful!
It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is true that people can see what they want to see and therefore some see beauty where others might see ugliness and ugliness where others see beauty. However do we see what we ought to see and appreciate it for what it is? Are there things of beauty we just never tire of beholding no matter how many times we have seen them before? I observed a beautiful sunrise this morning and continued to watch as the sun’s glow began to glisten more and more across the water. I don’t know how many sunrises I have observed during my lifetime, but each one is beheld as a thing of beauty. Then there are the sunsets, the rainbows, the majestic mountain peaks, etc. Perhaps the beauty of these rightfully continues to capture our attention because they are not the works of man, but the WORKS OF GOD. They are all aspects of His beautiful creation; marvels of His mind, wonders of His wisdom, and proclaimers of His powerful hand.
Reading in Jeremiah yesterday morning, God was mentioned as…
“(6) THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might. (7) Who would not fear you, O King of the nations? For this is your due; for among all the wise ones of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you.” ( Jeremiah 10:6-7 ESV)
This was followed by a description of the stupidity and foolishness of those who followed idols that were crafted and dress by the hands of men. ( Jeremiah 10:8-9)
Then, again of God we read…
“(10) But THE LORD IS THE TRUE GOD; he is the LIVING GOD and the EVERLASTING KING. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation. (11) Thus shall you say to them: ‘The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.’ (12) IT IS HE WHO MADE THE EARTH BY HIS POWER, who ESTABLISHED THE WORLD BY HIS WISDOM, and BY HIS UNDERSTANDING STRETCHED OUT THE HEAVENS.” ( Jeremiah 10:10-12 ESV)
Yes, and all HIS WORKMANSHIP is beautiful. Should that also not include us?
In Isaiah we read…
“(8) But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; WE ARE ALL THE WORK OF YOUR HAND.” ( Isaiah 64:8 ESV)
Does God not have the right to be angry when we try to shape ourselves and put our life to use for purposes other than that for which HE MADE US? (note Ephesians 2:10) We admire the beauty of God’s creation and rightfully so! However, we must continually bear in mind that we too are the WORK OF HIS HANDS. Are we allowing His beautiful workmanship to continue in our life? May that beauty also become that which others would never tire of observing.
Have a great day LIVING A BEAUTIFUL LIFE TO OUR CREATOR’S GLORY!
