Water Fights!
Water fights! They can be a fun activity for hot sunny days. However, they sometimes begin spontaneously through the simple throwing of a cup of water on an unsuspecting friend. This often draws the other in to retaliate not with another cup to merely get even, but with a bucket, and from there it all escalates into one-upmanship. If the water war does not get completely out of hand and anger someone, perhaps the individuals can both walk away feeling REFRESHED.
In Proverbs we read…
“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and ONE WHO WATERS WILL HIMSELF BE WATERED.” ( Proverbs 11:25 ESV)
Now, Solomon was not addressing the subject of water fights, but he did note an idea that deals with mutual benefit. Though we should guard against an attitude of doing for others simply for the purpose of having the favor returned, through bringing REFRESHMENT to the life of another quite often ends up coming back to us as well anyway.
If we want to get even with others, let us do it with goodness. When we have been REFRESHED a little, may we strive to REFRESH even more. Keeping the REFRESHMENT going in such a way is likely to cause it to splash on others around us in the process.
Have a great day POURING OUT KINDNESS ON OTHERS!
