Victory Through Surrender!
Conquest is not generally envisioned as coming about through surrender. Victory is usually viewed as being gained through a persistence in pressing on against the foe until that foe is overpowered and defeated. However, when it comes to spiritual victories in our life we need to be careful we don’t view them merely from the standpoint of worldly concepts. God’s ways and the world’s ways are not only often drastically different ( Isaiah 55:8), but many times dynamically opposed to each other.
Someone has said, “A conqueror is one who wins by fighting; a ‘more than conqueror’ is one who wins without fighting.” [original source unknown]
Paul said it this way…
“(35) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? (36) As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’ (37) No, in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM who loved us.” ( Romans 8:35-37 ESV)
The victory is not based on our own abilities and strength, but is gained THROUGH HIM; through the victory Jesus made possible through His own surrender on the cross. Without Him we would perish and be lost in life’s battle. He gained the victory, making it possible for us. Through our SURRENDER TO HIM and His Will as the Lord of our life, He brings the victory over that which would otherwise separate us from God.
Isn’t it wonderful to know, even from the beginning, that in Christ we are on the winning side? May we continually live thankful “to God, who in Christ always LEADS US IN TRIUMPHAL PROCESSION, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” ( 2 Corinthians 2:14 ESV) Let us march onward in Him, spreading the Good News of Jesus so that others may also be encouraged to surrender their life to Him and fall in among the ranks of the redeemed.
Have a great day ENJOYING THE BLESSING JESUS FOUGHT TO PROVIDE!
