Precious Connection!

When my wife and I were married a little over thirty-three years ago, we exchanged rings as we vowed a committed love to each other. The rings we exchanged and still wear are rings made of precious gold. However, though those rings cost us money and are made of a precious and valuable metal, the investment in the relationship continues and is of greater value. The relationship we share is very precious and continues to be based on a trust of each other’s FAITHFULNESS TO THE RELATIONSHIP.

As Peter began his first letter to Christians who had been scattered by the persecution of that time, he noted two precious things associated with their relationship to the Lord. The first mentioned was something precious that had developed in their lives. The second was the precious thing that had brought them not only into a relationship with Christ, but also with each other.

The result of the various trials was …
“(7) so that the tested genuineness of your FAITH -- MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD that perishes though it is tested by fire -- may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” ( 1 Peter 1:7 ESV)

And with regard to the new found relationship in Christ…
“(18) knowing that you were RANSOMED from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, NOT WITH perishable things such as SILVER OR GOLD, (18) but WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter. 1:18-19 ESV)

Both the FAITH we have in Christ and the BLOOD that brought us into that blessed relationship are far more precious than the silver and gold or anything else the world may value. FAITH is more durable than gold and the BLOOD OF CHRIST is able to secure what all the wealth in the world could never purchase; the cleansing and salvation of our souls. An appreciation for precious faith and the precious blood of Christ is best demonstrated through a continual striving for FAITHFULNESS IN THE RELATIONSHIP we have with the Lord. He is faithful, for He cannot be anything but faithful. May His FAITHFULNESS encourage ours all the more!

Have a great day GROWING IN LOYAL LOVE FOR THE LORD!
Carl
