Master Key!

Someone has said, “Don’t become discouraged. It may be the last key in the bunch that will open the door.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E. C. McKenzie]

Perhaps you have had a ring of keys that you had to fumble through in search of the RIGHT ONE to open a door. I remember the two summers I worked as a custodian for the school district in which I grew up, I carried a ring of many keys clipped to my belt. A young teen who worked under my direction was soon impressed with how I was able to walk up to different doors and unlock them with the first key I tried. Eventually he learned my secret was that though there were some specific keys on that ring for specific doors, there was ONE KEY that actually opened most doors we needed access through. That key was a “Master Key” that fit all of the classrooms and a few other doors.

The above quote is an encouragement to not give up too soon as doors are sought to be opened. The right key is probably there somewhere and if we keep trying, the RIGHT ONE will eventually be found. When we consider how there are people who try to gain access to spiritual things in various ways, we might see it as being similar to fumbling through many keys in search of one that works. However, there is ONE KEY that has been provided for gaining access to God that can be identified so time is not wasted trying every other ideology.

John recorded the following words of Jesus.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” ( John 14:6 ESV)

Jesus is THE KEY to approaching God. Jesus clearly stated that no one can come to the Father “except” through Him. It was Jesus who gave Peter the “KEYS OF THE KINGDOM” ( Matthew 16:19) and on the Day of Pentecost following the Lord’s ascension into heaven, Peter opened the door of faith by pointing the crowd to Jesus. ( Acts 2:14-40) Then those who accepted the message were baptized and were added to the saved. ( Acts 2:41)

In the revelation to John we read…
“(17) When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘FEAR NOT, I am the first and the last, (18) and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I HAVE THE KEYS OF DEATH AND HADES.’” ( Revelation 1:17-18 ESV)

Jesus is the “Master Key”, the ONE KEY for gaining access to God and being delivered from death into eternal life. What He opens, no one can shut and what He shuts, no one can open. ( Revelation 3:7) May we retain Him as the “Master Key” to opening and keeping open the door of our eternal hope.

Have a great day ACKNOWLEDGING JESUS AS THE KEY TO OUR SALVATION!
