Does He Fit?

The story has been told of a home decorator who was sent to a house to take measurements for the placing of a life size painting of Jesus. After spending a considerable amount of time measuring throughout the house, he met with the owners and explained, “I’m sorry, but the picture will not fit into your home. I guess you will just have to build a home that fits the picture.”

How many have tried to squeeze Jesus into a life where He really doesn’t fit? Without being willing to make necessary life changes some seem to just expect Jesus to fit in to the manner in which they choose to live. Is our life a SUITABLE HOME for Jesus? Have we been eager to do whatever remodeling is necessary for creating a PROPER HABITATION for Him? Perhaps what has been really necessary is the demolition of the old (note 2 Corinthians 5:17) so that a SUITABLE HOME from the foundation up can be built for Jesus to take up residency.

As Jesus encouraged the disciples prior to His crucifixion, we read…
“Jesus answered him, ‘If anyone LOVES ME, he WILL KEEP MY WORD, and my Father will love him, and WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM.’” ( John 14:23 ESV)

We must love Jesus and His Will more than we love our own or the home of our life will not be a SUITABLE HABITATION for Him. Focused only on our own way of building, our life will be too small for the Lord. We need to give Jesus free reign of every room in our life, allowing Him to bring in the holy furnishings that will make us a SUITABLE HOME in which He can live.

Have a great day APPROPRIATELY ACCOMMODATING THE LORD!
