Clearing The Windows!
There was a man who was once seen busily cleaning his windows on a very cold morning in the middle of winter. When asked what he was doing he respond that he was cleaning the frost from his windows, but it seemed that as fast as he cleared it off it came right back again. His friend kindly told him to forget the windows for a moment and kindle his fire. The windows would then clear themselves.
When FAITH is allowed to grow cold, it becomes difficult to see as we ought. The coldness of this dark world can begin to frost our view and wiping our eyes or squinting harder is not going to remedy the problem. Our ability to see as we should actually begins within. What is needed is to kindle FAITH’S FIRE and then the fog will begin to clear by itself.
Referring to Moses, the Hebrew writer stated…
“By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for HE ENDURED AS SEEING HIM WHO IS INVISIBLE.” ( Hebrews 11:27 ESV)
Though Moses had been faced with an angry unrelenting Pharaoh, it was God and His power that Moses’ vision was able to perceive. It is FAITH that provides the vision to see what others might not see. Faith clears the windows of our mind in order to see beyond the doorstep of our own abilities and even beyond the valleys of this life’s challenging circumstances to the mountains of God majestic glory and power at work in and for us.
As the Hebrew writer defined faith…
“Now FAITH IS the assurance of things hoped for, THE CONVICTION OF THINGS NOT SEEN.” ( Hebrews 11:1 ESV)
We don’t believe because we see, but rather are enabled to see because we believe! FAITH’S FIRE needs to be kept burning brighter and brighter for our conviction to remain strong and our vision to become clearer and clearer.
So, with what shall we stoke the fire of FAITH? Peter noted the addition of virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love. ( 2 Peter 1:5-7) He also stated that without these qualities we will be “nearsighted” and “blind” to seeing as we ought. ( 2 Peter 1:9) It is these qualities that will increase our effectiveness and fruitfulness “in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ( 2 Peter 1:8 ESV) May our FAITH continually be kept ablaze that the windows through which we look at life and toward eternity may remain clear.
Have a great day STOKING THE FIRE OF FAITH!
