Ticker Talk!

Having a HEART to HEART talk with others refers to HEARTS being drawn together. It is indicative of having an intimate, honest, and open conversation with others. However, our words may not always convey what is truly held within. Our HEART is not as open to the view of others as it is to God. Therefore, for the sake of our relationship with Him, and to safeguard the words and actions of our life, we must be serious with regard to what is in the HEART. Just as problems with our physical HEART spell serious problems for our life, so it is true even more so spiritually speaking. When the rhythm of the body’s ticker gets out of sync, the body suffers for it as various functions and mobility are impaired. When our spiritual ticker is not right we also become spiritually (and even emotionally) impaired to the point of being in eternal trouble. Held within the HEART is what we truly think, love, and really believe! If there’s a malfunction there, we have a serious problem! Therefore, when the “ticker talks” what does it say? If its language is not right we may be in need of some radical HEART surgery.

Remember David’s statement that…
“THE FOOL SAYS IN HIS HEART, ‘THERE IS NO GOD.’ They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.” ( Psalm 53:1 ESV) [also stated in Psalm 14:1]

That’s the talk of one ticker! Perhaps such a one need say nothing verbally because the life itself lived without any acknowledgement of God is revealing enough as to what the HEART is saying.

In Jeremiah we read the following regarding some of the nation of Israel.
“THEY DO NOT SAY IN THEIR HEARTS, ‘LET US FEAR THE LORD OUR GOD, who gives the rain in its season, the autumn rain and the spring rain, and keeps for us the weeks appointed for the harvest.’” ( Jeremiah 5:24 ESV)

That would seem to imply that the HEART ought to say, “Let us fear the Lord our God.” For the HEART to think, love, and really believe the Sovereignty of God, that would have a dynamic impact on what is said and done. Is that the speech pouring forth from our HEART?

Jesus stated…
“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART HIS MOUTH SPEAKS.” ( Luke 6:45 ESV)

The mouth may do the speaking, but the fountain from which it all comes is THE HEART! Do we have an abundance of the right stuff held there? Aside from our words and visible actions, what is it our HEART truly speaks to us? May its proper acknowledgment of God be the basis for every action and word associated with our daily life. In this way we will be able to maintain a HEART to HEART connection with God and can be drawn into the same with others.
