Seeking God!
God’s desire has always been for mankind to seek and reach toward Him. (note Acts 17:26-27) The complexity and magnificence of the Creation ought to draw our attention toward God. The humble acknowledgement of needs beyond our own provision should draw us toward Him. The truth of His Word should also touch us in ways that cause us to live to please Him. However, how deeply are we touched by all of this?
David stated…
“You have said, ‘Seek my face.’ MY HEART SAYS to you, ‘YOUR FACE, LORD, DO I SEEK.’” ( Psalm 27:8 ESV)
Sometimes people make requests of us and we may respond verbally or even in action, but is THE HEART always involved? Are we ever that way with regard to the requests of God? How do we respond to the Divine invitation to seek Him? When our whole being (note Mark 12:30) -- including the AFFECTIONS OF OUR HEART -- is involved in seeking God, all aspects of our life can be drawn more in line with His Will. A shallow response lacks the substance needed to maintain a steadfast relationship with Him.
Because it was David’s HEART RESPONSE to seek the face of God, it was God to Whom he would count on for help. (Note the context of Psalm 27:7-10) Such is the picture of a worshipful life; when the response moves beyond lip service to that of a truly RESPONSIVE HEART. May we continually have a HEART RESPONSE to all that God asks of us.
Have a great day KEEPING THE HEART FACED TOWARD GOD!
