Proper Care!

We buy products that come with varying guarantees. Some even come with “lifetime” warranties. However, does that mean our own lifetime or merely the lifetime of the product itself?

It has been noted that the human body, with proper care, will last a lifetime. Though those years may vary from person to person, was the body intended to last any more than a lifetime? It came from dust ( Genesis 2:7) and it is to dust the body will return. ( Ecclesiastes 3:20; 12:7) We may pump iron, jog or run, watch our diet, and try to get proper rest and enhance the quality of our physical well-being in this realm, but all that is for nothing if the same diligence is not given to the fitness of the spiritual life. It is the guarding and proper care of THE SOUL’S NEEDS that provides glorious life for an eternity!

Paul noted in his first letter to Timothy…
“for while bodily training is of some value, GODLINESS IS OF VALUE IN EVERY WAY, as it HOLDS PROMISE FOR THE PRESENT LIFE AND ALSO FOR THE LIFE TO COME.” ( 1 Timothy 4:8 ESV)

Continuing to live in a right relationship with God, our spirit will ultimately return to the One Who gave it. ( Ecclesiastes 12:7) Through godliness OUR SOUL is warranted for both the present life and the eternal life to come. Though some may have power to kill the body, it is the One Who has the power over our SOUL’S eternal destiny that we need most to be concerned. ( Matthew 10:28; Luke 12:4-5)

My prayer for you is that which John expressed to Gaius when he wrote…
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, AS IT GOES WELL WITH YOUR SOUL.” ( 3 John 2 ESV)
