Bringing It All Together!

Life can become very fragmented. With all the activities, responsibilities, and “extra” things we try to crowd in, it can be difficult to bring it all together. There are times our lists have to be reprioritized or when some things have to be left undone. Sometimes we are struck by the reality we do not always make the right choices with regard to those things. In the midst of all the busyness and trying to remember all that needs to be done, someone has bemoaned, “I finally got it all together and then forgot where I put it!”

Reading through the first chapter of Ephesians yesterday morning, among Paul’s opening statements I was struck by the following.

“(7) In him [Jesus Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (8) which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight (9) making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ (10) as a plan for the fullness of time, TO UNITE ALL THINGS IN HIM, THINGS IN HEAVEN AND THINGS ON EARTH.” ( Ephesians 1:7-10 ESV)

JESUS is God’s bridge between earth and Heaven. ( John 14:6) He is the One Who brings the two realms together. All is to be under Him! That authority and position is rightfully His. ( Matthew 28:18) Our view of earth and Heaven -- and all that is associated with these two realms -- is to be considered with our focus CENTERED ON JESUS. And since the preeminence or supremacy belongs to JESUS with regard to the church, this world, and also the heavenly realm, if JESUS does not have the preeminence in our own life then our life is not in harmony with God’s purpose!

Without JESUS there is no way we can get our life together. Read the passage again and note the blessings that are ours IN CHRIST. Without these provisions IN JESUS would we not be left with a life of loose ends? IT IS JESUS who has provided the means by which we can rest in a hope that it will all come together in the glorious way God has purposed for those who truly acknowledge the LORDSHIP OF JESUS. In order to live a balanced life, let us KEEP JESUS CENTRAL to our life focus. Out of the seeming chaos, He can bring order.
