Father Knows Best!

I remember the old program “Father Knows Best” starring Robert Young. Maybe you also remember watching it or have seen some of the reruns. In every program there was a conflict with which the family or a family member would wrestle. There would be anxiety. There would be tears. Sometimes there would be some anger over a situation. But by the end of the program the father of the family was always able to calmly help the family (or family member) work through the situation. His wisdom and judgment always seemed to prove right. Therefore every episode ended on a happy note.

Whether it be “Father Knows Best”, “Leave It To Beaver”, or “The Brady Bunch” -- solving life’s situations often proves more challenging than how those thirty minute programs seemed to make it appear. I know, as a parent, the challenges and times of struggling with a sense of inadequacy and a lack of wisdom. I did not know what was BEST in all situations. But by the grace of God our children appear to have matured well emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually.

When it comes to Father KNOWS BEST, our Heavenly Father is truly the One Who does! He KNOWS BEST in all situations. His advice, His council, His wisdom, and His direction can always be counted upon.

The Hebrew writer stated:
“(10) For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but HE [GOD] DISCIPLINES US FOR OUR GOOD, THAT WE MAY SHARE HIS HOLINESS. (11) For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but LATER IT YIELDS THE PEACEFUL FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN TRAINED BY IT.” ( Hebrews 12:10-11 ESV)

God, speaking through Isaiah, reminded His people...
“(17) Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, WHO TEACHES YOU TO PROFIT, WHO LEADS YOU IN THE WAY YOU SHOULD GO.’” ( Isaiah 48:17 ESV)

The NIV reads, …WHO TEACHES YOU WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU….”

Let us continue to look to the wisdom of our Heavenly Father. He Who knows us BEST can BEST direct us in the way we should go. Through His direction He is able to make our life end on a joyful note.

Have a great day TRUSTING THE FATHER WHO ALWAYS KNOWS BEST!
Carl
