Answering The Call! (part 6)

ANSWERING THE CALL! (part 6)

MAKE IT SURE!

The phone rings and this is the way you answer: “Is it really you? Is that really what you want me to do? Okay -- consider it as good as done!”

Is it evident to others that we have been called and have accepted the call of God? Peter admonished:

“(10) Therefore, brothers, be all the more DILIGENT TO MAKE YOUR CALLING and election SURE, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. (11) For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” ( 2 Peter 1:10-11 ESV)

But how is that done? It’s through a focus on the “qualities” Peter had just listed. We need to progress in our faith. The things which Peter stated to “make every effort” to add to (or supplement) our faith are: virtue (or goodness), knowledge, self-control, steadfastness (or perseverance), godliness, brotherly affection, and love. ( 2 Peter 1:5-7) These are what will make us effective and fruitful in our knowledge of our Lord Jesus. ( 2 Peter 1:8)

Our faith needs to grow, for it is through the steadfastness of faith we are able to press on to the goal of being welcomed into the eternal kingdom. Making our calling sure ensures against falling short of the heavenly goal.

Have a great day SECURE in your calling of God!
Carl
