Answering The Call! (part 5)

ANSWERING THE CALL! (part 5)

CALLED TO BE A PART OF THE “PHONE TREE”!

In our congregation our women have set up a “PHONE TREE”. The way it works is the person at the top of the list is called, she calls the first person on several sections of the list who, in turn, call those on their part of the list. It is a means of quickly getting information out that is of concern to members of the congregation. The “PHONE TREE” is utilized when someone is in need of special or immediate prayers. We use the “PHONE TREE” when someone is sick, when someone has to go into the hospital, or in the case of a death in the family.

But we all have been called to be a part of a “PHONE TREE”. There has been a death in the family and we need to let others know. Jesus Christ gave His life for the sins of the world and we are called to share that information with others in order for them to respond and receive the benefits.

As Paul continued his missionary journeys we read:
“(6) And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. (7) And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. (8) So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. (9) And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ (10) And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that GOD HAD CALLED US TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THEM.” ( Acts 16:6-10 ESV)

And to the church at Thessalonica, Paul wrote:
“(6) And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, (7) so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. (8) For not only has THE WORD OF THE LORD SOUNDED FORTH FROM YOU in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything. (9) For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, (10) and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” ( 1 Thessalonians 1:6-10 ESV)

Though we have been called by God out of the world and into His kingdom there are others who may have played a part in the calling. And the Lord desires to do some calling through us. We are part of a “PHONE TREE”. He wants us to continue to relay the message of His calling.

Have a great day being part of God’s “PHONE TREE”!
Carl
