ANSWERING THE CALL! (PART 3)

PICK UP THE PHONE! ANSWER HIS CALL!

When we call upon God (whether it be for help, wisdom, strength, or whatever) we expect a response. Why should it be any different in God’s expectations of His calling. When God calls He wants us to answer. But God doesn’t force the response. We could say it is like being called to dinner, and if we don’t come, we are the one’s who miss out.

Now, when the phone rings -- there are a lot of offers made. Some want us to think they are really trying to do us a “favor”, when all they actually want is to make a buck! Let’s be sure it is God’s call to which we are responding.

Note what we are called through:
“(13) But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. (14) To this HE CALLED YOU THROUGH OUR GOSPEL, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ( 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 ESV)

Yes, it (the Gospel) truly is “Good News”. An offer to benefit our whole being. An unmerited “favor” ready to be accepted.

Note what the calling is associated with.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who CALLED US TO HIS OWN GLORY AND EXCELLENCE,” ( 2 Peter 1:3 ESV)

We can depend on the glory and goodness of His nature to bring blessing as we respond to His call! God has no ulterior motive than to benefit and bless our lives for now and eternity.

Note whose purpose the calling is associated with:
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.” ( Romans 8:28 ESV)

Since it is His purposes which shall stand ( Proverbs 19:21) it is those purposes to which we need to respond. God’s purposes are right! His purposes are good! His purposes are everlasting! And so will be the life linked to them.
