Journeying With Whom?
Lost in THE CROWD. Such can be a scary thing for a small child who in search of his parents can only view a sea of knees. However, as people grow older it seems there are many who don’t mind getting lost in THE CROWD. Rather than bucking the flow they settle in to the ease of going with it. If it is considered to be the “in” CROWD, that’s where they want to be found. Also, being numbered among the crowd it is possible to share the notoriety of particular accomplishments without having to really do much themselves. (Perhaps that is why some individuals prefer being in a large congregation rather than a small one where they might be called upon to serve.) The grave reality is that choosing to be lost in THE CROWD can very well become exactly that; LOST! As we consider those with whom we have chosen to walk in life, have we given serious consideration to the path they are traveling?
Jesus urged…
“(13) ENTER BY THE NARROW GATE. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. (14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matt 7:13-14 ESV)
The way in which the “many” are traveling is the way that leads to destruction. It is the path of the lost! It is a way that is CROWDED. It is a road to be avoided!
In Revelation we read of ANOTHER CROWD to which we should live to join.
“(9) After this I looked, and behold, A GREAT MULTITUDE that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, (10) and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ (11) And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, (12) saying, ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.’” ( Revelation 7:9-12)
Who were these that made up this CROWD? They are described as those who had come out of the great tribulation and had washed their robes, making them white in the blood of the lamb. ( Revelation 7:14) The cleansed! The redeemed! The saved! That is THE CROWD of which to be a part. May we enter the narrow gate and remain in the way that leads to life!
Have a great day PREPARING TO BE IN OUR LORD’S “IN” CROWD!
